The members of New Directions tackle their assignment of getting out of their comfort zones and determining whether they’re more like “Katy” (Perry) or (Lady) “Gaga.” Kurt holds auditions for his new band and must decide if he’ll let in the overly bold performer, Starchild (guest star Adam Lambert). Meanwhile, Jake gets closer to Bree (Erinn Westbrook) as he and Marley grow apart in the all-new “A Katy or a Gaga” episode of GLEE!
Glee creator Ryan Murphy has announced Glee will end after its sixth series, but not as he had always planned it.
“The final year of the show, which will be next year, was designed around Rachel and Cory/Finn’s story,” he said.
“I always knew that, I always knew how it would end, I knew what the last shot was – he was in it, I knew what the last line was – she said it to him.
So when a tragedy like that happens you sort of have to pause and figure out what you want to do, so we’re figuring that out now.”
In the wake of Finn’s sudden death, former members of New Directions return to McKinley to remember their fallen friend. While a stoic Mr. Schue encourages all the gleeks to “memorialize him the way we do everything – by singing about it,” some of the kids find the exercise more cathartic than others. At the Hudson-Hummel home, Kurt, Burt and Carole sort through Finn’s belongings and what begins as a somber occasion blossoms into a poignant and much needed family moment. Meanwhile, Emma grows concerned when she believes Will is so busy taking care of others that he’s not allowing himself time to grieve; Santana struggles with using her “bitch” mask to hide her fond feelings for Finn, and has a run in with Bree, McKinley’s “New Santana”; and following a heart-to-heart with Coach Beiste, Puck honors Finn’s memory by making a life-changing decision about his future.
The McKinley High family, present and past, join together to remember and celebrate the life of Finn Hudson in the all-new “The Quarterback” episode of GLEE.
